Welcome to the Rudloe and environs website.
Here you will find news, articles and photos of an area that straddles the Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in north-west Wiltshire.
Contributions in the form of articles or photos are welcome. Even those with completely contrary views to mine!
Thanks to the website builder 1&1 and Rob Brown for the original idea.
Rudloescene now, in January 2014, has a sister, academic rather than anarchic, website about Box history here: http://www.boxpeopleandplaces.co.uk/
It contains thoroughly professional, well-researched articles about Box and its people.

29th September 2025 - and the tale of a walk to Chippenham through Corsham Park and then along the old coaching road (byway CORM122) from the pineapple gate at Chequers to the A350 and beyond. The dual carriageway (A350) has to be crossed to continue along the byway (CHIP108) but this section of the byway has fallen into disuse (a day's work with secateurs is required) so a diversion has to be made through KFC (Kentucky Fried Crap) and Costa in order to continue along the section of CHIP108 between Methuen Park (road) and Easton Lane. The title photo shows Nick Brakespear doing some maintenance at Spindles Bikes in Corsham High Street and there are some images of Corsham in the first gallery below.
Now, across the south side of the park we go...
Across the Dry Arch to the north side of the park
Moving south along Easton Lane, we come to the pineapple gates and (on the east side) the entrance to the old coaching road (byway CORM122)
The tricky bit... the byway is disected by the A350 so we have to cross two carriageways remembering the Green Cross Code
