Welcome to the Rudloe and environs website.

Here you will find news, articles and photos of an area that straddles the Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in north-west Wiltshire.

Contributions in the form of articles or photos are welcome. Even those with completely contrary views to mine!

Thanks to the website builder 1&1 and Rob Brown for the original idea.

Rudloescene now, in January 2014, has a sister, academic rather than anarchic, website about Box history here: http://www.boxpeopleandplaces.co.uk/

It contains thoroughly professional, well-researched articles about Box and its people.

August 2020 (pictures taken on Bank Holiday Monday, 31st August 2020) and a fallen ash had blocked the entrance to right of way BOX107C in Leafy Lane so the intrepid Dave Wright, with his Cotswold Wardens hat on, set to work with his 'Devil' (?) machine to clear the obstruction.

Right of way BOX107C is now clear thanks to the efforts of Dave Wright
As with the 'healthy' beeches that fell within weeks of each other in December 2017/January 2018 in a north-south direction (ie not with the prevailing wind), this ash has fallen in an 'odd' south-north direction
Abundant keys from the fallen ash which somehow (through bird distribution?) end up seeding scores of saplings in local gardens - including ours and we're 'miles' (metaphorically) from the nearest ash
A landscape version of the title picture - this is taken from the playing fields side

There's only so many pictures you can take of a fallen ash, so let's move on down Leafy Lane ...

Cyclamen in the Leafy Lane verge near the Rudloe Arms
Perhaps not satisfied with the efficacy of social media, a local idiot (the Springfield Close bus stop has also been vandalised) has made a right old mess of the Rudloe Arms/Lower Rudloe bus stop towards the brow of Box Hill
