Welcome to the Rudloe and environs website.

Here you will find news, articles and photos of an area that straddles the Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in north-west Wiltshire.

Contributions in the form of articles or photos are welcome. Even those with completely contrary views to mine!

Thanks to the website builder 1&1 and Rob Brown for the original idea.

Rudloescene now, in January 2014, has a sister, academic rather than anarchic, website about Box history here: http://www.boxpeopleandplaces.co.uk/

It contains thoroughly professional, well-researched articles about Box and its people.

We are at Bath Spa and some pictures of the Belmond British Pullman which ran from Victoria to Bath and Bristol via Swindon and Chippenham on 17th May 2018 follow. The title picture shows Bullied Merchant Navy Pacific 35028 Clan Line at Bath Spa awaiting departure on the 'up' (return) leg with the buildings of Bathwick Hill and North Road beyond.

Belmond passengers await the arrival of their train as a new Hitachi 800 class diesel/electric departs for Bristol
The Pullman arrives with Clan Line in charge while class 158 diesel multiple-unit awaits departure for Bristol and beyond. The 158s were built by British Rail Engineering 30 years ago - see the 17th May letter in the Letters Archive
Clan Line drifts along the 'up' platform with the Belmond British Pullman
This shot shows the first Pullman coach 'Mercator' and, as with the title picture, the buildings of Bathwick Hill and North Road
Clan Line well stoked-up and 'blowing off' before departure
Clan Line continues to 'blow off' but now it looks like it's burning oil!
