Rudloescene now, in January 2014, has a sister, academic rather than anarchic, website about Box history here: http://www.boxpeopleandplaces.co.uk/

It contains thoroughly professional, well-researched articles about Box and its people.

A day trip on 27th April 2024 which took in the Bath and Gloucester Steam Express behind Black 5 no. 44871 and the Clan Line 50th Anniversary tour from London Victoria to Bath. The trip was punctuated by coffees at the George in Bathampton, walks along the Kennet & Avon towpath twixt Bathampton and Bath (and return), beer at the Barley Mow (crap) in Bathwick Street, beer and lunch at the Curfew (excellent) in Cleveland Place and more beer at Town+House (pretty good) in Thomas Street. The title picture shows my half (only) at the Town+House.

In the gallery below, we see some sights spotted en route to Bathampton Junction

A two-hour wait before the Clan Line 50th Anniversary Tour required a coffee break at the George where two or three stag parties were arriving by narrowboat.

Heading into Bath along the Kennet & Avon towpath for the four-hour break before the return legs...

Now during a stroll along Bathwick Street to the Curfew, we find: littered steps to garden flats, a view along Henrietta Road to the spire of St Michael's (formerly with St Paul) Church in Walcot Street, an avenue of London planes and the west colonnade of Cleveland Bridge.

The Curfew in Cleveland Place was a pleasant surprise. Owned and run conscientiously by Mick (who also owns the Ring O Bells in Widcombe) from Kilkenny, the atmosphere, service and food were all meritorious and commendable. The title picture shows my final stop, the Town+House in Thomas Street (just a half here).

Following this extended lunch break, it was off along the Kennet & Avon towpath again to the Meadow Lane Bridge awaiting the return legs of our two steam specials
