Welcome to the Rudloe and environs website.

Here you will find news, articles and photos of an area that straddles the Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in north-west Wiltshire.

Contributions in the form of articles or photos are welcome. Even those with completely contrary views to mine!

Thanks to the website builder 1&1 and Rob Brown for the original idea.

Rudloescene now, in January 2014, has a sister, academic rather than anarchic, website about Box history here: http://www.boxpeopleandplaces.co.uk/

It contains thoroughly professional, well-researched articles about Box and its people.

1st June 2025 brought a reasonable turnout on this first day of summer. In the title picture, John and Gordon appear to have seen something of interest in Leafy Lane.

Before the off, Dave gives a briefing to the stalwarts: Rod, John, Lorraine, Gordon, Bernard, Meg and Derrick. Mike set off early and Ian and Sian will be late arrivals so with yours truly, we have a total of eleven.

Field recently cut for silage and not (yet) threatened with development east of Copenacre

Convolvulus arvensis on the A4 verge above Copenacre. Wiltshire Council continues to waste ratepayers' money by spraying this verge with the weedkiller Roundup (glyphosate) - see https://ecologycenter.org/factsheets/so-whats-the-problem-with-roundup/

A dozen bags of litter for sale. Best offer?

4th May 2025 and spring is well and truly springing as the ash stand at Rudloe Fiveways shows (ash is usually the last tree to come into leaf). The title photo shows this group of ash along with some of the bags of litter collected (more will be added later).

The May crew gathering at the Boxfields Road reservoir: Rod (sorting out his hi-viz), Lorraine, John, Madeleine, Gordon, Derrick and Peter; Sian is yet to arrive so we have a total of nine stalwarts (including yours truly).

The 6th April 2025 brings the monthly Rudloe litter pick. The title picture shows Peter and Derrick setting off down Boxfields Road in their quest for rubbish.

This month's crew sorting out their bags. From the left, we have: Rod, Lorraine, John, Peter, Gordon, Derrick, Dave and Meg. As usual, Mike has already departed and new recruit Sian yet to arrive.
