West of England Lionhearts soaked and subdued following defeat at the hands of South Wales Scorpions

3rd September 2016 - a West of England league representative side, the Lionhearts, took on South Wales Scorpions U20 development side at Corsham RU's Lacock Road ground in appalling weather ahead of the latter's tour of Canada.

The result, 46 - 10 to the Scorpions, reflected the advantage of a settled team over a representative side that had never played together previously. Apart from a minor scrap and a coach being yellow-carded, the game was played in good spirit and was a good run-out for all in spite of the dire weather.

And does anyone out there remember this playing kit? This was the strip worn by Wiltshire Wyverns during their brief, but quite successful, venture in the West of England League in 2011. Wyverns like Bath & Wiltshire Romans, the current north-west Wiltshire outfit, were based at Lacock Road, Corsham.

The Monsoon has come early this year as the Lionhearts huddle together to keep warm
